The Spotlight is on My Mother’s Voice
My Mother's Voice, a California charity devoted to breaking generational poverty through early education, visits Title I schools with an impactful literacy program. They read award-winning books to students, providing each child with a monthly book and school supplies throughout the year.
In a recent initiative, My Mother's Voice distributed Reading Buddy Bears to all kindergarten classes at their Title I schools. The story of Corduroy served as the perfect read-aloud to kick off each child's reading journey. After the story, each student picked a leveled reading book—and a Reading Buddy Bear—to take home and cherish.
This special program emphasizes the emotional connection between a child and their Bear Buddy, highlighting how reading can shape early literacy skills and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
